Privacy & Terms
Last Updated: 6 February 2026I. General Provisions
The Beaufort Dispatch respects the privacy of its readers. We deal in meteorological facts, not personal surveillance. Your data remains your own, used solely for the purpose of informing you whether to carry an umbrella.
Data Collection
We do not sell your personal data. The application uses location services exclusively to retrieve weather data for your immediate vicinity. This data is transmitted securely to our weather providers and is not stored permanently on our servers.
Location Services
To provide accurate forecasts, including "The Constitutional" and "The Laundry Index," we require access to your device's geolocation. You may revoke this permission at any time via your device settings, though the utility of the Dispatch will be significantly diminished.
II. Data Retention
If you choose to create an account for "Overseas Telegrams" (syncing settings across devices), we store your email address and saved locations securely. You may request the deletion of this account and all associated records at any time by contacting the editor.
- Local Storage: Most preferences are stored locally on your device.
- Cloud Storage: Only used if Account Sync is explicitly enabled.
III. Terms of Service
By using The Beaufort Dispatch, you agree to accept the weather as it comes. We cannot be held responsible for unpredicted showers, ruined picnics, or hats lost to gusty winds.
The "Laundry Index" and "Constitutional" advice are provided for entertainment purposes. Please use common sense.
